Apex Legends will see the release of a new weapon, and one more hero before Season 1 is over. Apex Legends’ first season, Wild Frontier, went live last week alongside the first battle pass. Wild Frontier’s launch brought us one new character, that being Octane. It now looks like that won’t be the end of the new content in Season 1. The official Apex Legends page on PlayStation.com has been recently updated with information on the first season and the associated battle pass.

"Two new characters will launch over the course of the season but in the meantime, look out for a new weapon set to launch as the season progresses," Sony's description reads. "Best of all, each new Legend and weapon will launch with a full set of cosmetics to unlock." In addition, "two new items will be introduced during the season that will offer something new and innovative to the strategic mix".

That's not all. Right underneath the mention of "two new characters" coming to Apex Legends during season one, it goes on to say that there will be a new weapon too. Most of the guns in Apex Legends are straight from the Titanfall games, so it's likely this will follow suit. Could we see the Volt SMG, L-STAR LMG, or Charge Rifle added to the game? Here's hoping it's not the Smart Pistol. The PS4 page also mentions that there will be two new items introduced to the game. These could be anything from healing items to throwables to weapon attachments, or even something new entirely. Anyone for some Satchel Charges? The news that we should expect a second new Apex Legends character emerged from Sony's PlayStation page for the game, which noted that "two new characters will launch over the course of the season" complete with a full set of cosmetics each. The website essentially makes it clear we'll be getting another hero within the next twelve weeks, which is how long Season 1 will last. Season 1's second Legend could be a number of different possibilities, too, which should only make speculation leading up to their release that much more intense.

Another new character joining the Apex Legends roster shouldn’t be much of a surprise to fans of the game, as there have been plenty of leaks and rumors over the past month hinting at such a thing happening. One rumor, in particular, indicated that Jack Cooper, the protagonist of Titanfall 2‘s story mode, would eventually make his way onto the playable roster, potentially bringing the wall running ability back with him.

Obviously, since Respawn hasn’t confirmed its plans for the next Legend, it’s hard to know if this is accurate. The fact that this information is coming from Sony certainly helps give it some legitimacy, but even if the plan is indeed to launch a second new Legend before the end of season 1, there’s a lot of time left for development to hit some unforeseen delays. In other words, don’t set your expectations for a new Legend too high until Respawn confirms what its plans are. We’ll keep an ear to the ground for more on upcoming Apex Legends content, so stay tuned for that.
