Twitter dataminers look to have unearthed a host of unreleased content currently in development for Apex Legends: including new weapons like a flamethrower and remote turrets, as well as both hostile and friendly NPCs. Apex Legends might be the hottest new thing on the Battle Royale circuit, but it remains to be seen whether Respawn Entertainment can keep up with the break-neck pace of updates and new features we see from some of their competitors.

First off, let's talk about those NPCs. Adding computer-controlled opponents to battle royale games has been done before, with Fortnite adding zombie-like characters for some of its in-game events and the Tyrant showing up in PUBG Mobile. Looking at some of the leaked Apex Legends code, it seems that its take on NPCs may be even more fleshed out. They can reportedly belong to "fireteams", for starters - so don't expect to just pick them off one by one as they mindlessly charge toward you.

The leaks provided appear to suggest that any Apex Legends NPCs implemented are going to be capable of doing more than standing around and handing out quests. The complexity of the actions that they could potentially perform could see them functioning as teammates in the game, which could add another strategic layer to Apex Legends. It's possible that these NPCs may end up being part of a new game mode, or that they could help fill in for players who have disconnecting teammates in the middle of a match.

Another datamine mentions changes to the time of day. While it's been described as a "night mode" by the dataminers, it looks like it could also be a day and night cycle, with the map transforming as the match progresses. I quite like the idea of everyone jumping in the middle of the day, but as the body count rises, visibility starts to drop and things become increasingly tense. Though I admit have enough trouble playing in broad daylight.

In other exciting news, the folks at Gaming Intel have discovered that wall running is likely coming to Apex Legends. This would apparently include both vertical and horizontal wall running. The ability to dash along walls was, of course, a major part of the Titanfall games, so it would definitely be a welcome addition to Apex Legends. Now all they need to do is add Titans!

It’ll be interesting to see exactly how Apex Legends evolves with future updates, and what role the NPCs end up playing. Whatever happens, I’m 100% down to play with a flamethrower, so the sooner that gets added in the better. Finally, to enjoy all the features in the game, players can Buy Apex Legends Apex Coins from Mmocs at a reasonable price.
